Sotto's story

Like a third of Americans, I struggle with sleep. And when you’re wide awake at 3am, tired and wired, the last thing you need is a brightly lit screen, hundreds of choices, or a course to complete.

I wanted an app that could be a calm, conversational, and supportive voice to gently guide me back to sleep when I was  feeling most irritable.

Frustrated by what was out there, we started prototyping our own solution—using AI to build a voice that could feel calm, intuitive, and supportive in the middle of the night.

How is Sotto different from other sleep apps?

Most sleep apps are built for bedtime routines or long-term programs. Sotto is designed for when you wake up in the middle of the night, and are too frustated to deal with a complex app. Sotto responds immediately, adapts to how you're feeling, and doesn't require navigating menus or looking at a bright screen menus.

What sleep techniques does Sotto use?

Sotto uses clinically-proven methods including CBT-I (cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia), Yoga Nidra (NSDR), guided meditation, progressive muscle relaxation, breathwork, body scans, cognitive reshuffling techniques, sleep sonic soundscapes, and even boring bedtime stories. All are recommended by sleep specialists.

Can I choose different voices?

Yes! Sotto offers 4 comforting voices (male and female) so you can find the one the one that works for you. You can change your voice preference anytime. 

What if I'm somewhere I can't talk or play sound? 

No problem. If you’re in a quiet space like an airplane or shared room, just use headphones. Sotto will still guide you with voice, and you can reply with simple taps—like “yes,” “no,” or selecting an option.

What does “Sotto” mean?

Sotto comes from sotto voce—an Italian phrase meaning “in a quiet voice.” It reflects the calm and comforting tones of our AI voices.

Is my data private?

Absolutely. Sotto does not store, analyze, sell or share your voice data or sleep patterns. We don't track you — we support you. What you say always stays private and secure.

How much will it cost?

Sotto will be free during early access. After that, we'll offer an affordable all-inclusive monthly plan — without the annoying upsells or yearly contracts.
